Moulded
fibre (molded fiber) egg cartons are used
in most egg producing countries around the
world.
Moulded fibre egg cartons have several advantages
over plastic products:
Moulded fibre egg cartons cushion
the egg and provide impact protection
in transit and in storage. Plastic containers
offer little impact protection.
Moulded fibre egg cartons absorb moisture.
This is a major advantage where eggs
are stored in refrigerated conditions
in warm regions around the world. Condensation
on the egg is absorbed by moulded fibre
and moisture does not pool in the bottom
of the egg pocket. (This can happen
with plastic packs).
Moulded fibre egg cartons are easy
to recycle and they are environmentally
friendly. Made from recycled paper they
can easily be recycled along with the
normal waste paper stream.
Moulded fibre cartons absorb odours.
Eggs have a natural odour which is absorbed
by moulded fibre packs but not by plastic
packs.
Moulded fibre cartons are cheaper
than plastic packs.

Egg cartons from Ludowici Packaging are

ONE: The "Hawk Universal" (registered design)
carton. This is a semi view-top allowing
shoppers to verify eggs in the pack and
also has a large print area in the centre
of the lid.
TWO: The "Hawk Flat Top". This is a conventional
flat top egg carton providing a large, flat,
print or label area on the lid.
Both cartons are designed with the same
superior denesting features which provide
a generous gap between packed cartons.
