This carton was designed in 1999 in collaboration
with the three largest egg packing companies
in Australia (the design is registered).
The lid of the carton has four apertures
through which buyers can view the eggs at
both ends of the carton.
The Hawk Universal carton is available in
pink, blue, yellow, buff and "natural".
Colour can be used to denote pack size (for
example, in Australia yellow coloured cartons
are 700g packs usually).
Retail outlets normally require egg cartons
to be packed into outer boxes for storage
and delivery. There are usually 15 dozen eggs
per box in Australia.
