Moulded fibre trays are used around
the world in apple and pear packs.
Moulded fibre trays are preferred
because:
they are shock absorbing and
protect apples and pears from bruising in transit
and in storage.
they are cheap and easily recycled.
they are easy to use in the
packhouse.
they are accepted around the
world in all areas of the fruit industry.
they are environmentally friendly
as they are made from recycled paper.
Ludowici fibre trays are rigid and will not collapse
when trays loaded with fruit are placed in the carton.
This is an advantage Ludowici trays have over other
trays available. Single tray loads of fruit (photo
1) or two layers at once (photo 2) can be placed
easily into cartons. Ludowici trays are flat and
easy to use at the tray fillers. (Photo 3). Bundles
of B trays are easily identified by a painted red
stripe down the edge of the bundle.
Moulded fibre trays are
designed to soften during cool storage and as this
occurs the tray moulds itself to cushion the fruit
it is holding. As the tray softens in this way it
must still maintain its strength and not degenerate.
Ludowici trays do not degenerate
during coolstorage of fruit; even during long term
storage. This has been proven for some years now
in all major apple markets around the world.
During the manufacturing process
at Ludowici factories key quality variables such
as the weight and moisture content of each tray
are measured on-line and controlled automatically.
Quality data is automatically written into computer
storage. In addition, random but frequent quality
audits are carried out and extensive records kept.
Ludowici fibre trays are competitively priced, quality
assured and can be used to send fruit to markets
around the world with confidence.
